Dear Macy Mae,
Here I am again - sitting down to write your monthly recap and feeling amazed at how quickly this is all going. You are getting so big! Each morning when I pick you up out of your crib I swear you've grown an inch and gained a pound. Those Candlish genes are hard at work! You blasted right through all of your newborn and 0-3 month clothing this month and I couldn't believe it when I had to pack all your little clothes back in the storage container that I swear I had JUST pulled them out of. Geez!
This past month was full of little milestones for you. You rolled over your first time, from your belly to your back. I'd like to say congrats but I kinda find that skill a little annoying. You are my tummy sleeper and it seems to take you a bit longer to fall asleep these days because you like to roll yourself over a few times before you fall asleep. And since you don't know how to get back onto your belly mommy has to come in and help you out. I try to explain to you that you should just STAY on your belly to make things easier on us both. Well, that or learn how to roll yourself on over the other way!
Another milestone - you began to giggle this month. How sweet a sound! You think it's funny when Mama does fast knee bends while holding you and saying, "wheeee". You also like when I blow raspberries on your cheeks and unlike the knee bends I could do that all day. I LOVE YOUR CHEEKS!
Another thing you love - using your legs to "stand up" in our laps. I think you like to feel like a big girl and take a look at everything going on. You are fascinated by your sister and when she isn't making you blink incessantly out of fear you enjoy watching all her crazy antics. I can only imagine what it will be like when the two of you are at it together. Oh Lord help me.
Other notable things:
- You prefer to be held like a "big girl" but thankfully you'll still sleep on my chest occasionally. Please don't give that up anytime soon!
- You are figuring out your hands a bit more. You love to suck and gnaw on your little fist.
- Your eyes are a beautiful sparkly blue just like your big sis. I love them and I find it hilarious since back when I was pregnant I was just sure the only think I "knew" about our second baby was that she WOULDN'T have blue eyes. I figured how could two non blue eyed parents wind up with both kids having blue eyes? Genetics are a crazy thing....
- All who meet you comment on your mellow and happy temperament. You just kinda go with the flow. We feel SO lucky to have been blessed with you as our daughter but having you be the baby you are is beyond luck. Nana calls you the "best baby EVER!" And of course I kinda have to agree.
Photos from the past month:
The face of an angel
I love this little outfit. I bought it with Nana up in San Fransisco back when I was pregnant with you. Seemed like it would be forever until I could see you wear it and here we are....
Yes, yes you do poo. Quite a bit actually. But seriously - I love watching you with your sister. You are a much more "active participant" in your snuggles with her now. She just eats it up when you smile and coo at her.
Hanging out in the backyard under the umbrella. We had some HOT days this past month. Here you were watching your sister run through the sprinklers. Your turn next summer!
Proof that I am in fact bathing you
You spent quite a bit of time gazing up at your toys above this month. I can see your wheels turning and you want to grab them but you just can't figure it out quite yet. Soon enough.
Another month under your belt little lady. Thank you for all the smiles, coos and giggles my girl. We love you more and more everyday!
xo,
Mama
