15 Months Old

This photo really captures you right now Ruby. You are constantly at my legs either giving me hugs or looking at me and saying "Up!". You melt my heart baby girl!

Dear Ruby,
Last week you turned 15 months old and although we tease and say we want our baby back, Daddy and I are are loving the little lady you are turning into. Daddy said it pretty perfectly the other day when he said that you've really "kicked it up a notch" lately. What did he mean? Well, your personality, opinions, activity level, and just your overall spunk has reached an all time high which make each and everyday with you hilarious, entertaining, and pretty darn exhausting.
We started the month will a fairly memorable experience - you locked mommy out of the house! Yep, it was a weekday morning and daddy was at work. We had just come downstairs to start our day. I got you your sippy cup of milk and gave you a snack cup with some Cheerios in it and turned on Barney to buy me a few minutes to get ready for our walk to Starbucks. I stepped outside to grab the stroller and in the 10 seconds I took to grab the stroller (it was just outside the door) you came up behind me and shut the front door to the house. The second I heard the click I just knew.... I reached for the handle and of course it was locked. I ran around back hoping the sliding glass door was opened but no luck, we hadn't been up long enough to have been out back yet. UGH! Thankfully one of daddy's employee's, Lalo, was in the backyard working on the playhouse. I called daddy with Lalo's cell phone and Daddy came FLYING home. You didn't skip a beat - I could hear you through the door and see most of the downstairs through the slider but you were in an area where I couldn't really see you. Thank goodness you were content - if you had been screaming it would have been a WAY worse! We now of course have a key hidden in case this happens again. :-)
I always love watching you do new things but this month a few of your new skills just really got me - they are just TOO cute. You now sing (well, your version of) which is SO sweet. Your little voice and head tilt while you sing "do-do-do" is so dang adorable. And then after months of practice you finally master the art of blowing kisses - LOVE those kisses! But my FAVORITE is your question hands. I am not sure who exactly you got this from but now whenever we ask you a question you throw up your hands like, "I dunno?". I really can't get enough of them. They are usually combined with a puzzled sometime sad look especially when I ask you "Where's Daddy?" The question hands have been tough to capture by camera but here are a couple versions:

The one handed...

The two handed response to "Where's your baby?"

Which brings me to your favorite new word this month - "Bay-beee". You love your babies. And you love pushing your babies in their stroller which is a pretty funny sight.

Such a good little mama!
"Come on babies, let's go for a walk..."

"Here Mama, give the baby a hug"

Other Firsts this month:
  • Going to the beach with Nana, Aussie, and Mommy
  • Brushing your teeth
  • Mommy trimmed your bangs because they were going in your eyes and you won't let me put a clip in your hair.
  • Music class at Connor's house
Favorite things this month:
  • Your babies!
  • Animal crackers which you call "Cook" (cookies)
  • Playing "Where's Ruby?" with your "Nigh-nigh" (blankie)
  • The backyard - between your playhouse, the tunnel, ice cream truck, stroller, and all the other toys you can be entertained for hours back there!
Tunnels are FUN!

Your ice cream truck - complete with music and ice cream to hand out. You love cruising around on this thing.

Little one, I can't finish this post without acknowledging that this month we have also seen an increase in the good ol' tantrum. We've seen them coming but you are now officially throwing fits. No flailing on the ground yet - just crying. But crying as if you've been hurt. It's so fake but you do a good job of convincing yourself that whatever is wrong is really worth all the drama. Oh please..... mommy isn't buying it. Sorry baby. :-)

Keep the good stuff coming Rubes and save the rest for your teenage years.

We love you to pieces,
Mommy & Daddy
