| Come on blankie - let's bail this joint! |
First it was the poo-poo party, then locking mommy out of the house and now this! Rubes, you sure do provide me with plenty of blog material. I can only wonder and laugh about all the fun you have in store for us in the years to come. Oh boy!
On Tuesday I was downstairs enjoying some down time while Ruby napped when all of a sudden I heard a loud THUD followed by crying. I immediately knew what had happened, Ruby had climbed out of her crib. I ran upstairs, flew into her room and although I pretty much knew what I'd find I was still amazed to see her standing in the middle of her room. Once I saw her and knew she was OK I almost laughed - she had a priceless look on her face. A little bit confused and VERY startled. She literally had her hands up like "What the heck happened mom?!?" I quickly scooped her up and held her tight, I couldn't believe she wasn't screaming. After a quick examination and could tell she had hit her head but thankfully seemed to be just fine. She gave me some BIG hugs and I could feel her little heart pounding! We sat in the glider and snuggled for a few minutes and then she was ready to carry on.
While sharing our news with Auntie Erin she suggested I put Ruby back in her crib to see if she'd attempt another escape. And what do you know - Ruby didn't even hesitate. She climbed RIGHT up. I couldn't believe she was going to do it again, I thought maybe she'd consider the fall but NOPE - she scrambled up onto the railing as if she'd done it a million times before. Why was I surprised?
Thankfully the railing that was previously up against the wall is higher than the front railing so for now we've flipped the crib around and that seems to have stopped her. As you can see in the picture below, Ruby was a little frustrated that she can't quite get her little knee high enough to climb out now but as with everything else I'm sure it's just a matter of time. I am definitely seeing a crib tent in our future....
