The 2011 Orange County Fair

Another summer has just about come and gone but not without us trying to take advantage of all that it has to offer. A couple weeks ago we spent an evening at the Orange County Fair. It always seems like we have to gear ourselves up to get to the fair but once we have we always have a blast. This year was especially fun because Ruby was super into it. She wanted to do EVERYTHING!

Uncle Turkey on wagon duty

Last year we gave the pony ride a shot but Ruby was
freaked out so we said "maybe next year".
This year as we walked to the pony rides (it was our first stop once getting to the fair)
I still had my doubts that Ruby would want to go for a ride.
As soon as we saw the ponies Ruby lit up and begged "Pleeeze Mama".
We absolutely loved watching our big girl on her first real pony ride.
And guess what her pony's name was - Ruby!

The Dumbo Ride

Family Ferris Wheel Ride

Loving the ferris wheel

Ruby shocked me once again - I seriously asked Chris, "Who is this kid?!?"
Just a couple months ago she wouldn't even get CLOSE to a rabbit or guinea pig let alone a goat. It totally cracked me up seeing her walk right up to all the animals and pet them.
Such a big girl!

Daddy was determined to win his girl a stuffed animal...

...and he did!

On the hunt for a frozen banana and a funnel cake....

Every year Chris gets a funnel cake and every year he regrets it.....
Ruby is always willing to help eat it.

I have two requirements when we go to the fair.
1. A frozen banana 2. A family picture in the Photo Booth

2009, 2010, & 2011

Dear Jaime,
Once again you made the event come alive. I feel as if I were there with you eating frozen bananas and riding the pony. Thanks for sharing your lovely family. It's a treat to read these posts.
Ask your mom about the summer we were 12. The people at the Bible booth insisted the Bibles were free and that we could each have one. Who knew what effect that would have? Remembering that act of kindness brings a smile even today.
What did Ruby name the stuffed animal? That's quite a hold she's got there. Love it.
Thanks again, Jaime.
Enjoy all your days together.
