Working on our Vocabulary

I remember back when Ruby was just a few months old staring at her and wondering what was going on inside her little head. I wanted so badly to be able to talk to her and get a feel for her personality and who she was to become. WELL, I think it's safe to say that all who know our Ruby have a "feel" for her abundant personality.... We have one outgoing, smart, funny little girl on our hands!

Those knew the "original" Ruby, Ruby Bennett, have said that our little Ruby has inherited her gift for gab. And it's true - we used to joke that Ruby Bennett would strike up conversations with just about anyone. She was notorious for meeting friends at the grocery store. Well, Ruby Grace would make her great grandmother proud because Ruby talks to EVERYONE. If you are standing behind us in line at Target you better WATCH OUT. Ruby will ask your name, inquire all about your piercings, tattoos, hair color, and even your makeup. After the questions usually comes the random "facts" that Ruby likes to share - that's when I really hold my breath because it can be ANYTHING. The most common things she shares are usually "My Dad's name is Chris", "I have a dog named Charlie", "I got a big girl bed",  and the most popular lately is to point to my belly and say "That's my baby!" Fairly harmless but every once in awhile (like with the Easter Bunny) it's information that isn't necessarily for sharing. Needless to say shopping trips have never been so entertaining!

I know toddler quotes are never quite as funny as they are when you actually hear them but I have to give you a little idea of what I am dealing with here....

Eating ravioli at the dinner table, Ruby dropped one in her lap and said, "Oh NO, what the HECK did I just do?!?"

While out at Costco watching our cashier (who was a pretty Hawaiian looking girl) ring us up she told her, "You look like Pocahontas!"

Handing me the ipad: "Mom, fix this thing - it's all jacked up
Me: "MESSED up Ruby, the ipad is MESSED up!"

While playing with her Lego's and struggling to get them to stack properly (Under her breath) "Ugh these things are a piece of JUNK!"

At Target yelled to me while I am sorting through the girls clothing (she had put a LARGE Easter egg under her shirt) - "Look Mom, I am getting pregnant!!!"

After falling off her bike she yelled: "BAM it, Bike!"
Me: "Ouch! Are you OK? Ruby, it's, Darn it, Bike!"
Ruby: "BAM it Bike!"
Me: (Great...)

While watching Chris run off after Charlie when he took off across the street after another dog: (picture her with her hands on her hips and while shaking her head in disgust) "That frickin dog
Me: "SILLY!!! That SILLY Dog!"
Ruby: "That SILLY FRICKEN dog!"
I *may* have had to walk away and crack up after that one.

So yea, we are working on our vocabulary over here...... Wish us luck!
