Back to Work

This week I went back to work and I am happy to report that I survived! A few things really helped me with the transition - I am only working two days a week and while at work I had the peace of mind knowing Ruby was at home with Nana and Papa watching her. Thanks Mom and Dad!! 

Being able to go home for lunch both days was a huge perk! Seeing Ruby so happy and content made it easier to leave her. My mom even emailed photos throughout the day with updates on what Ruby was doing. Those emails were by far the best emails I received all day! 

I feel VERY lucky to have so much support at home, work, and from my parents and other family members who have offered to watch Ruby. The days flew by and I think working will help me really make the most of the time I DO have at home with Ruby.

My Dad took this picture after my first day back to work. There are two things that make me laugh when I see this picture: 

1. My dad had just finished telling me that he and Ruby had watched the TV show Ellen and that Ruby LOVED the performance by Lady Gaga when she sang - "I wanna take a ride on your disco stick". Um.... GREAT.

2. Please notice that Ruby is just in her diaper. When I came home I walked right over and gave Ruby a kiss. I recognized a familiar "stink" and when I looked down I discovered that Ruby had just had a major diaper blowout on her Papa Mike's lap. Poop was all over his shirt and pants!! I guess Ruby wanted to give him a proper initiation!
