Boats, Kites, & a Princess

We've been keeping pretty busy around here with lots of summer time fun.

The Jacobs invited us out on a duffy boat cruise for Sunday dinner and we had a really nice time. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed cruising around the bay.

Ruby learned an important lesson on the boat and that was, if you toss something over the boat it's gone (forever). Yes, Nana brought a small beach pail for Ruby to play with on the boat. They played with the pail for a short time, using it to gather water and then splash about. That clearly wasn't entertaining enough for Ruby so she tossed the pail into the water. It was retrieved and given back with a warning by Mama. I told her if she tossed it again it would be gone for good. Guess what she did IMMEDIATELY after I told her not to throw it over? Yep - she pitched it. Nana wanted to go back but Mama and Daddy said "Nope". She had been warned!

Pretty funny actually because Ruby talked about it for days afterwards by saying "Mama told" which she said very seriously while nodding her head. I have a feeling we are going to have MANY of these learning lessons in our future. Good times.

Ahoy Matey!

Singing for everyone on the boat.

Rubes and her cousins

Thank you Jacobs for a fun cruise!

I can't even remember the last time I went to fly a kite but Chris and I took Ruby to fly her first kite the other day. I am not sure who had the most fun but I think it may have been Daddy.

Fairview Park is great for flying kites.
We had a great breeze and there aren't too many trees to get in the way.

I love this picture.
Ruby was pretty amazed by the entire experience.

"Higher Daddy"

"Spinning until you get dizzy is FUN"

Another recent outing - heading to South Coast Plaza to buy another princess. We had an unfortunate incident with Ruby's favorite princess a couple weeks ago. Turns out Charlie kinda likes stuffed animals..... Uh Oh. Ruby was pretty upset so Daddy told her we'd go try and find another one. So off we went.
Mission find another princess

"Here she is!"

Love her

Mommy's girl - a true shopper

Of course we had to take the princess on a horsie ride

So happy to have her princess back. Ruby even read her a story on the ride home. When we made it home we had a very serious conversation with Charlie and he seems to have gotten the message. It probably doesn't hurt that Ruby reminds him daily, "NO PWINCES CHARWIE"
