6 Months Old!

Dear Ruby,
Happy half year birthday baby! I can't believe it has been six months since you came into our lives. The past month has been filled with laughter and smiles from you which warm our hearts. They also drive us to do talk in some funny voices, and make strange faces - Daddy even sings to you. We'll do anything for a smile!!!

This month your awareness really sharpened. Gone are the days where I can sneak out of your nursery or up the stairs while you are in your swing. You are aware of where we are at all times and you are starting to "complain" when mommy leaves the room! And bedtime is a little more "involved" these days. You insist on sleeping on your tummy and you like your backed rubbed while you fall asleep. Heaven forbid we forget to turn on the lullabies! You are also recognizing familiar things (people, toys, TV shows). You have really formed opinions on what your favorites are. One thing is for sure - YOU LOVE BARNEY. His, "I love you..." song never fails to make you smile.

We transitioned to formula this month and of course a week later you came down with your first cold. It was pretty mild thankfully. You didn't have a fever but we suffered through one night when you had a really tough time breathing through your nose. This of course made sucking on your binky impossible which made for a LONG night. We snuggled a lot and you toughed it out. The very next day you were already feeling better. And good thing because your Nana and Papa threw you a six month birthday party! Everyone loved celebrating you.

Kisses from Nana
So proud of our girl!

Just a few nights ago you had your first "meal" of rice cereal. You LOVED it! Daddy and I had so much fun feeding you and watching your excitement. We are going to have to work on your table etiquette because by the end you were covered in cereal! And of course you are already trying to grab the spoon and do it yourself. You were a very enthusiastic eater. Although you enjoyed eating, the rice cereal was hard on your tummy and made for a VERY difficult night. Apparently mommy didn't thin the cereal out enough because you were uncomfortable and crying almost hourly through the night. We'll give it another try in a couple days, just NOT for dinner!
After the first bite
All done!
"What?? No more?? I'll just lick my tray...."

Other milestones this month:
Using your Jumper
Sitting up (this is brand new and still needs some work but you can do it!)
And my favorite - giving BIG slobbery kisses!

At your 6 month check up this week you weighed in at 15.4 lbs (50th Percentile). You are now 27 inches long (75th Percentile), and your head is 17 inches around (25th Percentile). Right on track!

What's next Ruby? Teeth soon? Vegetables for sure! We are of course looking forward to Thanksgiving, you'll actually join us at the table which is so fun. I swear, the smallest things are exciting for us. Thank you for giving us so much to enjoy and look forward to every single day. We love you with all our hearts.

Love,
Mommy & Daddy
