Learning to swim

Ruby had her first round of swim lessons baby torture a couple weeks ago. I think I am finally getting around to blogging about it now that the shock has worn off. Ok, maybe I am overreacting just a little. :-)

We were referred to "Swim 2 Dan", a great swim instructor, and decided to sign up for his last session of the summer. Dan is known for teaching little ones water safety at a very early age and while that's great, we learned that the process isn't easy. There were definitely some tears involved (no, not mine!) and I have to say it went against my motherly instincts to sit still and watch from a dry chair while Ruby was learning to hold onto the side of the pool on day one of lessons. YIKES.

I am proud to say that Ruby did a great job with her lessons. After 10 lessons with Dan she is on her way to becoming a great little swimmer. She still has a long way to go but she definitely understands the basics and we look forward to next swim season when she'll do even better. Way to go Ruby girl!

You made it Rubes!
Ruby and Mama after her first day. I am pretty sure Ruby was still wondering what the heck had just happened.

It was a full on family affair at swim lessons.
Daddy came to watch a lesson as did Nana and Papa too!
Papa, Get me OUTTA here!
